FORT WAYNE, Ind. ---Of course, they knew their victim was 14.
And from all accounts in probable cause affidavits submitted for the two men, they were practiced in this type of predatory sexual activity.
Charles McDaniel (l) and Dylan Kieres
[Both affidavits were used to write this story with more information from an anonymous source close to the ongoing investigation and a former victim.]
The former victim said both Dylan Kieres, 33, and Charles McDaniel, 43, were well-known to the gay community for seeking out 14-year-old victims.
It was Kieres who got scared and went to police on May 21.
Between February and May, Kieres said he was living at 2100 St. Marys Avenue which appears on Google maps as the apartment complex across from Kroger on the city’s near Northside.
Kieres explained that McDaniel had been evicted from his mobile home off Wayne Trace and moved in with him, court documents said.
During this time, McDaniel brought the teenaged victim over to the apartment at least twice where the two had sex and McDaniel had Kieres film it on his cell phone

McDaniel told Kieres to have sex with the teen, too.
Those images were collected by police, an investigation led by detective John Chambers with Fort Wayne Police Department’s Crimes Against Persons unit.
The victim told his story to detectives and was interviewed at the Dr. Bill Lewis Center for Children.
On two different occasions, McDaniel came to the boy’s home, but parked his vehicle around the corner. The victim said he “snuck” out to sit in the car with him, court documents said.
The victim knew McDaniel as “Sammy” and Kieres as “Wolfie,” Our anonymous source provided the Facebook accounts of these two men who appear to engage in cosplay and wear masks.
This information was confirmed by a 20-year-old man who told The Probable Cause that when he was 14, he met Kieres at a downtown Pride event and became a victim.
In court documents, the 14-year-old victim described sexual activities that went on in McDaniel’s car that are too disturbing to include in this story. The victim did say that during one sex act, the physical activity “hurt” and he asked McDaniel to stop, but he didn’t “until he was finished.”
The victim had sex with McDaniel while he was still living in the mobile home and again at Kieres apartment on St. Marys Avenue. Both men knew the victim was 14.
The anonymous source said there are likely more of these men engaging in predatory pedophilia and called them “broke losers.”
Both the anonymous source and the older victim, who has had to work to achieve some balance after his experience with Kieres, said that McDaniel worked at a local McDonald’s fast food restaurant before his arrest.
On Kieres’ alternate Facebook account, he said he worked at Subway. Now he is unemployed, however, he’s currently being held at the Allen County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail. He’s been charged with sexual misconduct with a minor, child pornography possession and child exploitation.
McDaniel, who was incarcerated May 15 for invasion of privacy, is being held without bail. He’s been charged with three counts of sexual misconduct with a minor in 1) a vehicle 2) trailer 3) apartment, rape, child pornography possession, child exploitation, vicarious sexual gratification and child solicitation.
Both men are scheduled to appear in Allen Superior Court Friday, June 27.
