Sources have told The Probable Cause that two local gangs opened fire, with no regard to the large crowd spilling out of a hall in the 2200 block of Oliver Street around the corner from where the homicide occurred, or to other early morning partiers at the “blue house,” a well known party house at the corner of Greene and Oliver.

Jalan Carpenter was found guilty of murder in Allen Superior Court Thursday after a three day trial. The jury believed that Carpenter, now 22, waited for John Peterson, 19, a signed basketball player for Manchester University, in the area of Vance and Reed on March 26, 2021 and ambushed Peterson at 10:28 p.m. that night.
