FORT WAYNE, Ind. ---Five days it took from early Saturday morning's homicide until an arrest by Fort Wayne homicide.

Jamoni Burton, 19, who lived in the same apartment complex as his alleged victim, 16-year-old Kardenai Anthony Hollis, is now facing a virtual life sentence. Thursday he was booked in to the Allen County Jail on a murder charge, according to the Allen County Sheriff's Department website.
What provoked Burton to allegedly pump his victim with multiple gunshots? After an autopsy, Hollis' death was ruled "homicide by gunfire."
The sneaky attack was revealed after Fort Wayne detectives started hearing from several sources that someone named "JB" killed Kardenai who supposedly was involved in robbing Burton.
Homicide detective Luke MacDonald learned that Burton's ex-girlfriend told JB to leave it alone and that she'd seen him with "small and big guns," court documents said.
The ex recalled JB telling her "this will be the last time you hear from me 'cause I'll probably be in jail."
Try prison. If JB is convicted of murder, it carries a sentence of between 45 and 65 years. Add on to that the gun enhancement, an additional charge the jury can elect to convict that can add up to another 20 years to the sentence.
All because a 19 year old kid was so mad, he couldn't control himself? Couldn't think of the consequences? Again, if it's true and IF he's convicted.
Or was it the 15 minutes of fame? Detectives went to his residence at Woodbridge Apartments, the same place Kardenai resided, to speak with his people.
They advised they received a call from Jamoni the night of the shooting stating that he "got into some shit woo woo woo" and they should "check the news." Right after the early morning shooting around 3 a.m., Burton knocked at the door to be "let in." He was wearing a white "beater" as in "wifebeater" and black sweatpants, they said.
Burton's Instagram account was disabled and reactivated during a 24-hour period following the homicide. Burton may or may not have boasted about it. That wouldn't be unusual.
A search of Burton's room turned up the alleged murder weapon, a Romarin-Cugir Draco-c 7.62x39 with a magazine and PPU ammunition, the same kind of ammo found at the murder scene.
Preliminary forensic tests "confirmed" that the shell casings at the murder scene matched the weapon found under Burton's bed, court documents said.
At 3:21 a.m. Saturday morning, doorbell video caught Burton wearing the white "beater" and black sweatpants at his front door. He is knocking and breathing heavily, checking his phone and then sitting down.
Online court documents did not indicate when Burton will appear in court, but there is no bail when you are charged with murder.
