Conjecture and gossip lead the discussion on why young teens, Essix Robinson and his brother, Zy Rel, were in a vacant home on Bowser Avenue on Aug. 23 of last year. The ‘bando,’ as abandoned homes are called, and identified by the boys’ grandmother as 4423 Bowser Ave.,was the scene of a shooting between Essix, then 14, and Jorge Mendez-Cornejo. The shooting left Mendez-Cornejo wounded, according to a news release from the Fort Wayne Police Department.

A deadly game of ding dong doorbell occurred that Christmas night around 6 p.m. when, it is alleged, Shawn Williams, 48, the defendant in this week’s murder trial in Allen Superior Court, and his partner, Chad Kinney, 47, lured Rhinehart to his front door.

"He got jumped,” was the explanation for the fatal Piere's stabbing the day after Thanksgiving. “Read between the lines.” Immanuel “Manny” Ryshawn Walker, 27, was taken into custody in the 2600 block of Painted Desert Run by the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Homicide Task Force Dec. 6, about a week after two people were stabbed at the club, in the 5600 block of St. Joe Road, an FWPD news release said.

Breshawn Smith is on trial this week, charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and criminal recklessness.  The shooting occurred as people stood outside the club that was closing. Smith “left carnage,” Chaille said. “It’s a miracle more people weren’t killed that night.”

Ford, 38, one of two charged in the shooting deaths of Tornor Doby, 29, and Anisha Jackson, 38, was found not guilty of felony murder and attempted burglary after a three-day trial in Allen Superior Court, Judge David Zent presiding. The jury hung on the murder charge, not able to make a decision on the question of self defense.

Someone called police, a good thing, for sure, and the female victim’s home surveillance captured images of the three violent people who robbed her of $600 while her young children and boyfriend watched, court documents said.

And there was security. But that night Cameron Starks, now 24, and two buddies knew security, who let them in with their weapons.  Shamon Little aka “Homer” was killed that night. Dr. Kent Harshbarger, a forensic pathologist said Little died of a gunshot wound to the head, according to the probable cause.

The stabbing Jan. 4 of this year around 7:30 p.m. sparked outrage and further fear among some residents that it just isn’t safe to go downtown. What happened was a drama in the local homeless community on display through video, testimony and evidence this week in Allen Superior Court. 

At 1:20 a.m. on Sept. 15, 2023, two people - Royal Davis, Jr. , 38, and Jessica Fuentes, 31 - burst into the back door of the home at the corner of Saint Marys and Margaret Street, disrupting a familiar family scene.

Because of the seriousness of the charges and the threat of the enhancement that could double their sentences, if convicted, the men are lawyering up. So far three have retained attorneys. They have until July 27 to find an attorney or a public defender, according to online court documents.

But when Damontre Burnett pulled out a gun in a church parking lot on West Rudisill Boulevard after Kaedan Mowery handed over the money, Mowery shot and killed Burnett, according to a probable cause submitted by homicide detective Ben MacDonald.

A mistrial was declared in Allen Superior Court Thursday morning (June 12) due to jury misconduct, according to the defense attorney.

Allen, 35, is accused of delivering a blow so hard to his 17-month-old daughter’s abdomen that her mesentery was “shredded,” Wagner said. She died early on Feb. 25, 2021.

On June 2, detectives and the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team or SWAT arrived at Harris’s home with a search warrant. According to police, Harris was dealiong out of his residence.
